Building on our recent overview presentation “Six Lessons Patients and Providers Need to Know,” we invite you to join us as we examine a single medical provider/patient encounter, in order to identify the concrete steps a provider can take, and when to take them, to maximize the patient’s health insurance coverage.
Drawing on our extensive experience successfully leveraging ERISA to expand and vindicate patient and provider rights, participants will learn:
- three different ways a provider can obtain ERISA rights;
- the substantive information and procedural protections that those rights provide; and
- how to maximize the value of internal appeals.
Presenters
Trailblazers Jason S. Cowart and D. Brian Hufford lead Zuckerman Spaeder’s health insurance litigation practice, representing patients and health care providers in high-stakes coverage and reimbursement disputes. Their efforts have led to two of the largest recoveries ever obtained in ERISA-based health insurance class actions, and to a collection of other precedent-setting decisions that have transformed the rights of patients and providers.
